Yong-Kyung Lee
President and Chief Executive Officer, KT Corporation
Dr. Yong-Kyung Lee is the president and Chief Executive Officer of KT Corporation, the largest telecommunications service provider in Korea. It has over 22 million subscribers (accounting for 96.5% of the total local subscribers), and its wireless subsidiaries including KTF and KTICOM, KT is the dominant player in the Korean telecommunications market.
Dr. Lee headed KTF from 2000 and 2001 as Chief Executive Officer. Before that, he had worked as Vice President of KT and led the companies research activities in the field of wireless technology, telecommunications systems and software.
He also has worked as a technical staff at the AT&T Bell labs, a scientist at the Exxon Enterprises.
He earned bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering from the Seoul National University, Korea, master's degree from the University of Oklahoma, and doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Berkley, U.S.A. His academic activities led him to an assistant professor of Information Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
