AHN Kug-Jung AHN Kug-Jung

President & CEO, SBS, Korea (2005)

Kug-Jung Ahn is the current President & CEO of SBS, Seoul Broadcasting System, one of the three major broadcasters in Korea.

He started working in the broadcasting industry in 1970 when he joined KBS, Korean Broadcasting System. In 1983, he became Director of TV Cultural Programs Department and Director of Planning Production Division at TV Department-I, and then was promoted to Executive Director of Special Programs Department, Executive Producer of TV Center and Executive Producer of TV Programming Department in 1986, consecutively.

Mr. Ahn continued to stay with KBS, becoming Executive Director of Broadcasting, Executive Producer of Programming, Managing Director of KBS TV and Managing Director of KBS Programming Operations. He finally moved to SBS in August 1998 as Executive Vice President of Production. He was named Executive Vice President of Programming in 2001, Chief Executive Vice President & CEO in 2004 and finally President & CEO in February 2005.

During his career, Mr. Ahn produced many recognizable programs such as “The 60-minute Reportage”, “Open Music Concert”, “Sunday Special”, “The Tears of Dragon” and many others. He received the Culture & Information Minister’s Award in 1976, the Grand Prize of Korean Broadcasting Award in 1977 and was also awarded with the Pomegranate Prize of National Medal in 1983.
