Tai Hui Tai Hui

Regional Head of Research, Southeast Asia, Standard Chartered Bank

Tai Hui is the regional head of Research, Southeast Asia, of Standard Chartered’s Global Research team. Based in Singapore, he is in charge of the research team in the region monitoring the financial and economic development of Southeast Asian economies, which includes Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.

He regularly publishes research articles and advises clients on the latest economic development in the region and ASEAN integration as well as the economic relationship between Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia. His articles also appear in international and local newspapers, including The Asian Wall Street Journal, Straits Times in Singapore, The Nation and Bangkok Post in Thailand, and The Economic Times in India. He is also a regular guest with both local and international financial media, such as Channel News Asia, BBC, CNBC and Bloomberg.

Prior to his current role, Hui spent six years as an economist with Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) researching the Greater China economies of the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. This provides him with a comprehensive understanding of the Asian region.

He graduated from Queens' College, the University of Cambridge, with an MA in economics. In November 2007, he received an MA in international public affairs from the University of Hong Kong.
