Chang Donghoon is currently Executive Vice President and Head of Design Team of IT & Mobile Communication division, and Head of Design Strategy Team, Corporate Design Center, Samsung Electronics. He is responsible for the Product & User Experience Design of Samsung mobile phones and has played a critical role in the development of design strategy for the company.

Chang received MFAs from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Seoul National University. He worked for IBM Korea and Time & Space Tech inc. as a communications specialist and art director respectively. Before joining Samsung, he was a professor at Ewha Womans University where he taught visual design, information design and interaction design.

Chang joined Samsung Electronics in 2006 and has focused on advanced designing activities through innovative design solutions and led global design trends with prestigious designs. He directed the design projects of various global hit models and user-oriented UX, such as TouchWIZ & Haptic UX in 2008, UltraTOUCH & Blue Earth Eco Package in 2009, Wave, Galaxy S series, Galaxy Tab series, Galaxy Note & TouchWiz UX in 2010 and 2011. With the recent developments, Galaxy S IV and Galaxy Note II, he is continuously pursuing his passion for user-oriented design.

He directed a great number of global design award winning models and has received many industrial and professional awards, including iF, RedDot in Germany, G-mark in Japan, Red Star in China IDEA & ICES in the US and Best Mobile Handset at Mobile World Congress in recognition of his distinguished role and accomplishment in design. He was recently awarded the ‘Design Merit Section’ from the 13th Korea Design Award for his overall contribution to the design society and fostering the younger generation of designers.

He is a board member of the Asian Digital Art and Design Association (ADADA), the Korean HCI society and the Korean Society of Design.
