Claire Rigby
Editor-in-Chief, Time Out Sao Paulo / Freelance Writer
Claire Rigby is a British writer and editor based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is editor-in-chief at Time Out Sao Paulo, having moved to Brazil to launch Time Out there in 2010. She also maintains a busy freelance career, writing on Brazil, Argentina and Latin America for UK titles including the Guardian, the New Statesman and Art Review magazine as well as for the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong Tatler, the Buenos Aires Herald and Amsterdam's Frame and Mark magazines.
She writes about Brazilian news and current affairs for the English-language blog at the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo, where she covered last June's protests in a reportage series that can be accessed via clairerigby.com. She is also a founding member of Fluxo, an experimental non-fiction laboratory and newsroom based in Sao Paulo's Centro neighbourhood, where she is working on a project to develop micro-funded and crowd-sourced translation systems for activist journalism, collaborative projects and everyday use.
