Sang-Chul Lee
CEO, LG U+ / Vice Chairman, LG
Sangchul Lee was appointed as the CEO of LG U+ and vice chairman of LG in January 2010.
After becoming CEO of LG U+, He made 2010 as the first year of ‘Beyond Telecom’ and he is taking the lead in the telecommunications market to break the limits of conventional telecommunications and create new telecommunications genres.
He has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry including key leadership roles both in the public and commercial sectors. Prior to joining LG, he served as president of Kwangwoon University which is one of the nation’s most prestigious universities in the ICT area. Before his academic position, he served as the Minister of the Ministry of Information and Communications where he led national initiatives in building a country with the world’s most advanced ICT.
He was the first president of KTF in 1996 and received the Best CEO Award in Management Innovation in 1998 by the Korea Management Association. He then served as the president of KT, KTF’s parent company in 2001.
Lee is also involved in humanitarian activities. Since 2004, he has served as the president of Korean Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
