Young-Je Yoo

President, Scientists and Engineers Without Borders
Yoo obtained a BS in chemical engineering from Seoul National University (SNU) in 1974 and a PhD degree in biochemical engineering from the University of Maryland, USA, in 1986. Between 1974 and 1981, he worked for LG Chemical. He joined SNU in 1986 and is now a professor in the School of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
He has served as an associate dean for academic affairs (1999-2000) and dean for admissions (2001-2002) at SNU. He has been a member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea since 2003. He also served as the president of the Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering (2004) as well as the Korean Society for Engineering Education (2007-2008).
He is currently the president of the Korea Bio-Economy Forum (2011-present) and Scientists and Engineering Without Borders (2009-present).
