John is a scholar, educator, and writer living in the Middle East. As a scholar, he is considered (along with Jason Miklian) one of the world’s leading researchers on business in conflict zones. His most recent piece, “Thriving under Uncertainty” (with Jason Miklian) was selected by Harvard Business Review as its Big Idea for Winter 2021. As an educator, John teaches students at the American University of Sharjah and trains company and government leaders all over the world on how to manage more ethical and sustainable companies for a better world. As a writer, his publications have appeared in Harvard Business Review, The Washington Post, Journal of Business Ethics, and Academic of Management: Executive among others.
