Art Director, HZone, Director of "CONNECT, BTS", Director, Nam June Paik Cultural Foundation, Curator for the Korean Pavilion, 2017 Venice Biennale, Former Art Director, Hyundai Motor Company
Guided by his conviction in the importance of art in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, curator LEE Daehyung has been working to expand the bounds of curating to include the environment, community, technology, and the study of the future. With funds collected from 2017 Venice Biennale Korean Pavilion exhibition “Counterbalance,” he organized a campaign to support the environmental group We Are Here Venice. From 2013 to 2019, he was art director at Hyundai Motor Company, where he planned and directed various partnerships and promotional platforms with museums, curators, artists, and critics, including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Tate Modern, LACMA, Bloomberg, Art Union, Hyundai Blue Prize, and the Hyundai Tate Research Centre. Recently, he served as art director in charge of the public art project “CONNECT, BTS,” for which he worked with 22 artists in five cities – London, Berlin, Seoul, Buenos Aires, and New York – to reinterpret the thinking and vision behind the music of BTS. He also leads Korea Research Fellow 10X10, a global research network program that connects ten local curators with ten curators abroad.
